Facilities

  • The highly-skilled and award-winning Operations and Maintenance staff at Southern York is comprised of approximately two dozen custodians, eight maintenance personnel, one school police officer, numerous part-time substitutes, and a Director of Operations. The staff demonstrates competency and pride by cleaning, maintaining, and securing our three elementary schools, middle school, high school, and grounds using best practices in school facility management. The District has a proven history of maintaining and renovating its existing buildings and grounds along with a strong commitment to an annual capital improvement program.

    A blend of contracted services and district maintenance personnel are utilized to maintain the facilities. Southern York maintains and builds strong relationships with many contractors and vendors.

    The Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials (PASBO) recognizes school districts with outstanding operations in facility management.  Southern York County School District has been awarded the Gold Award of Excellence in School Facilities three times, in 2010, 2013, 2017, and 2020.  We are the only school district in the state of Pennsylvania to earn the Gold Award four times.
