Advance Planning for Financing Higher Education

The thought of Higher Education costs can be overwhelming; however, planning and identifying what you can do to help lessen those costs is an important step.  It’s never too early or too late to start understanding what those costs are and what is available to help maintain, plan, and help you make affordable decisions. Join Dan Wray and Linda Pacewicz of PHEAA’s PA Forward Program in a one-hour webinar to begin that process and become prepared.

The applications for spring Career Exploration Programs through YCAL are now available!

The York County Alliance for Learning has just opened registration for 14 in-person career exploration programs occurring this spring.  These programs are extremely helpful for students to get an understanding of different career fields, learn about the training and schooling necessary for a variety of careers, and connect with professionals working in that industry. These visits can also be used to satisfy graduation project field experiences; students should pick up a form in the counseling office prior to attending if they want to verify attendance for graduation project. Click https://bit.ly/3u2U8eS for a list of the spring programs offered and to register.  Many programs fill fast, so early registration is recommended.  More information on each program can be found at https://ycal.us/students/mentoring-program/.
The Student Assistance Program (SAP) is continuing to offer services and assistance to students and their families. There are a variety of interventions and programs available, including counseling assessments through True North, school-based counseling through Pennsylvania Comprehensive Behavioral Health (PCBH), and monitoring and mentoring programs through the school. If you are interested in any of these services, please contact your child's school counselor.

As always, SHS is proud to partner with many colleges to offer visits from admissions representatives to provide our students valuable information about different schools. We are resuming in-person visits this school year, but will also be conducting virtual visits as well.

Students can sign up on Naviance for these visits. For a list of colleges that are scheduled to visit and when please click here.
Every month, the SHS Counseling Office will create a scholarship bulletin with a list of scholarship opportunities.
