At SHS: Three-year letter winner in football, basketball, and baseball.  Varsity Club. 1976 All-State football, basketball, and baseball.

After SHS: B.S. in Education and M.S. in Education - Syracuse University.  Syracuse Football - Quarterback.  Running back, tight end, and defensive back coach - Syracuse University, 1983-1990.  Defensive back coach, Boston College 1991-1993. Secondary coach of NFL Jacksonville Jaguars 1994-1997, part of one of the most successful expansion franchises in NFL history.  Defensive coordinator Georgia Tech 1998.  Became Head Coach of University of Connecticut in 1999, transforming its football program into a successful Division I-A, Big East contender.  Has played or coached in ten major college bowl games (with seven wins) and five NFL post-season games.
