After SHS: Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering from Colorado School of Mines,1964. Lettered in football and track. Inducted into Mines Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998. Three years service in United States Marine Corps, 1964-67. Attained rank of Captain. Vietnam War Veteran. Began career in civil engineering in 1967 and founded James R. Holley and Associates in 1977. Service on board of directors of the following organizations: York-Adams Council, Boy Scouts of America. York County Chapter, American Cancer Society.
