2015: Jeanne Beste

  • Southern York County School District resident and volunteer, Jeanne Beste, was recently presented with the Susquehannock Alumni Association’s sixth annual Alumni Spirit Award.

    Beste received the award during half time of the Susquehannock High School's annual Homecoming game. The Alumni Association Steering Committee chose Beste for her years of dedication to the Southern York County School District.

    “The spirit award is presented to an individual who exemplifies outstanding school spirit for an extended period of time,” said Wayne McCullough, Chief Financial and Operations Officer and Chairperson of the SHS Alumni Association.

    Beste has served as cheerleading coach at Susquehannock High School for a combined 29 seasons, including football, basketball, and wrestling. In addition, she has also worked on the All-Sports Booster Club for 14 years, nine of those years serving as Chairperson of the club’s Fundraising Committee and working to benefit student athletes from all 24 athletic teams.

    Also, for the past 10 years, Beste has served as Chairperson of the All-Sports Booster Club’s Scholarship Committee. Under her leadership, the All-Sports Booster Club has provided more than 250 scholarships to student athletes for higher education. Furthermore, Beste also served as SYC Youth Director for 13 years and has volunteered her time to the Annual All-Sports Booster Club and Alumni Association Golf Tournament.
