Student Assistance Team
HEART is the name adopted by the school district for the student assistance program, which is a program of systematic responses to student problems in school. HEART is an acronym for "Helping Educate At Risk Teens." HEART is coordinated by members of the professional staff who have received training in recognizing student behaviors that inhibit educational growth.
Referral to HEART may be made by the school staff, parents, guardians, peers, concerned individuals, or the students themselves. Referrals are made when academic success is affected by personal problems and/or inappropriate behavior. Referral contacts are through a guidance counselor. Confidentiality between students and staff will be respected and maintained in the best interest of the student.
Anyone needing additional information should contact the guidance department.
