• THE PRE-ACT (10TH GRADE)

The Pre-ACT is a practice/preliminary test for the ACT, which is a college admission exam that serves the same purpose as the SAT. The Pre-ACT simulates the ACT testing experience by providing students early exposure to ACT test questions and predictive score ranges on the 1–36 ACT scale. This helps students get comfortable with the standardized testing experience and understand how they are doing in core subjects.

The Pre-ACT Test is normed for sophomores and contains four curriculum-based assessments — English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. Students also receive a personalized view of college and career possibilities — based on their answers to the ACT Interest Inventory, which can help them to start thinking about career paths. Parents/guardians and counselors can use the data to help students choose high school courses most relevant to career areas of interest.

The Pre-ACT exam will be given on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023 to any interested current 10th graders. The Pre-ACT exam is a great way to practice for the ACT, see which skills may need strengthening, and gain valuable career path knowledge.

For more information please visit Kaplan's Pre-ACT Website and to register for the exam, please be on the lookout for forms and information which will be available in the SHS Counseling Office in January 2023.
