Kindergarten Registration
Dear Parents and Families,
We are excited to welcome families of incoming kindergarten students to Southern York County School District! We are confident that you will find the district's educational program to be very sound and one in which your child's educational needs will be met and extended.
We are beginning a preliminary registration of all children in our school district eligible to enter our kindergarten program in August 2024. You may enroll in one of two ways. For your convenience, an online option is available at our district website (www.sycsd.org). Click Parent Portal\Sapphire\New Student Registration (bottom of page). You may visit the school to pick up a paper enrollment packet at any time. Please complete either option before March 15, 2024.
You and your child will then receive an invitation to an in-person meeting time with our kindergarten team later in the spring. In August, you will receive additional information including classroom assignment, busing information, and an invitation to our Open House to visit your child’s new classroom.
Just a reminder that State law requires that before entering school, all children must have completed the following immunizations. Please contact your physician to obtain a copy. Your child may not be admitted to school until these requirements are met.-
4 doses of tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis (one dose on or after 4th birthday)
-
4 doses of polio (4th dose on or after 4th birthday and at least 6 months after previous dose given)
-
2 doses of measles, mumps and rubella
-
3 doses of hepatitis B given at properly spaced intervals
-
2 doses of varicella (chicken pox) or history of immunity
The admission of students to kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year is limited to those children who are five years old on or before August 31, 2024. If you feel that your child is not ready for school, you are encouraged to contact your child’s building principal to discuss your concerns. We look forward to having you join our Southern York County School District family and working in partnership with you to help your child learn and grow!
