Performance Standards for Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent

The Southern York County School District Board of School Directors establishes performance objectives for the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent on an annual basis. 

In May 2023, the annual performance evaluations of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent were completed.  Dr. Robert Bryson, Superintendent, and Dr. Leonard Reppert, Assistant Superintendent, successfully met the objective performance standards for the year.

SOUTHERN YORK COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT OBJECTIVE PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

1. Student Growth and Achievement: Use multiple data sources to assess student success and growth as appropriate, specific to needs within the District, and as determined annually in collaboration with the Board of School Directors. 

2. Organizational Leadership: Work collaboratively with the Board to develop a vision for the District, display an ability to identify and rectify problems affecting the District, and work collaboratively with District administration to ensure best practices for instruction, supervision, curriculum development, management utilization, and work to influence the climate and culture of the District. 

3. District Operations and Financial Management: Ensure completion of activities associated with the annual budget, oversee distribution of resources in support of District priorities, and direct overall operational activities within the District. 

4. Communication and Community Relations: Communicate with and effectively engage the staff, the Board, and members of the community, clearly articulating District goals and priorities, addressing local and broader issues affecting the District, and building support for District initiatives, programs, and short/long-range plans. 

5. Human Resources Management: Incorporate best practices for human resource management and oversight, coordinate staffing, recruitment, and other human resource functions within the District. 

6. Professionalism: Model professional decision-making processes and ethical standards consistent with the values of Pennsylvania’s public education system as well as that of the local community in accordance with law. Superintendent shall additionally work to individually reflect upon her/his effectiveness within the role, and work to improve effectiveness through the use of professional development literature and activities.
