2025: Bethany Miller

Southern York County School District is excited to announce that the Susquehannock High School Alumni Association has selected Bethany Miller, a 2014 graduate of Susquehannock High School, to receive the 2025 Susquehannock High School Distinguished Alumni Award.

Bethany Miller is a native of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania, and a 2014 graduate of Susquehannock High School. Her love of sports began at a young age and continued throughout her childhood thanks to her parents and two brothers, Troy, Susquehannock Class of 2011, and Conor, Susquehannock Class of 2017.

Ms. Miller attended the University of Alabama and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports Broadcasting. While in Tuscaloosa, she covered many notable events, including the 2018 National Championship in Atlanta, Georgia. Her first job in the television news industry was in Evansville, Indiana as Sports Director at WFIE. After three years, she relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she was weekend Sports Anchor at KOAT. In March 2024, Ms. Miller returned home to the Susquehanna Valley and was named Sports Director at WGAL News 8. She is the fourth Sports Director in the station’s history and the first woman to hold the position. At WGAL, Ms. Miller has covered incredible local athletes and championship teams. She’s also reported on big events such as the U.S. Women’s Open at the Lancaster Country Club, a College Football Playoff run by Penn State, and the Super Bowl LIX championship featuring the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans. Ms. Miller is excited to be back in her hometown covering the local sports community. As this year’s Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, Ms. Miller will speak at Susquehannock High School’s commencement ceremony on May 30.
