Southern Middle School recently teamed up with the American Heart Association and participated in a 3 on 3 Hoops for Heart Basketball Tournament. This event helped to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease, fund lifesaving research, and involve middle school students in a community service project. This campaign raised over $3,800 to support the American Heart Association.
Throughout the month, students participated in online fundraising, sold t-shirts and participated in Spirit Week activities to support the American Heart Association. Mrs. Mikita and the Hoops for Heart Planning and Promoting Committee would like to thank staff, students, and families for supporting this very worthy cause. “A group of caring individuals who are passionate about a cause can make a difference in someone else's life,” said Mrs. Mikita. Congratulations to the following students; Chase Eckert, Karlye Kuhns, Aries Blymire, Jessica Tolley and Stephan Mayoryk, who were the top five fundraisers.
