SHS Chemistry Career Session – Nurse Robin Ferguson
SHS chemistry students recently learned all about the nursing profession from Mrs. Robin Ferguson. Mrs. Ferguson set up three stations for the classes to practice healing skills. At the wound station, students learned how to dress and bandage wounds. They took temperatures, listened to heart rates and simulated taking blood pressure readings at the triage station. The CPR station had models to practice CPR skills on and simulated using a defibrillator.
Mrs. Ferguson said, "This session shows the importance of saving lives and how the decisions you make as a nurse can affect so many lives.” She added, “High school is preparation for the future and I hope I’ve shown how fulfilling a nursing career can be.”
