School Board Recognizes Retirees for Their Years of Service

At the June 17 School Board Meeting, 11 individuals were recognized for their years of service as they prepare for retirement. They have all been an integral part of the Southern York County School District and will be greatly missed. The presentation can be viewed by following this link.
Cindy Forbes: Cindy has been with the District for 29 years. She worked in the administration building as the accounts receivable bookkeeper.
Steven (Steve) Funk: Steve is retiring after 33 years of service. He worked as a physical education teacher at Friendship Elementary and a health/physical education teacher at Southern Middle School. He was the junior high basketball coach, junior high assistant football coach, varsity track assistant coach, junior high assistant football coach,weightlifting intramural advisor, and coached track and field intramurals.
Deborah (Debbie) Grove: Debbbie worked in the administration building for 37 years as special education administrative assistant I.
Connie Markle: As an administrative assistant II at Southern Middle School, Connie has been with the District for nine years and eight months.
Karen Miller: Karen is retiring after 26 years with the District. She was a fourth and fifth grade teacher at Friendship Elementary. She also taught the Summer Reading Program and was a Teacher Induction Program Mentor.
Deborah (Deb) Palmer: Deb taught for the District for 26 years. She was an emotional support teacher at Friendship Elementary and Shrewsbury Elementary, and instructional support teacher at Friendship, as well as a learning support teacher and reading specialist.
Sheila Saxmann: Sheila worked in Food Services at Southern Elementary School. She was a contracted employee working with our District for six years.
Toni Shearer: Toni is retiring after 29 years. She was an emotional support paraprofessional at Friendship Elementary, Shrewsbury Elementary, and Southern Middle Schools. In addition, she served as a patient care assistant at Friendship Elementary and Southern Middle Schools as well as a life skills paraprofessional at Southern Middle and Susquehannock High Schools.
Karen Siddall: Karen was with the District for 31 years. She worked as a special education teacher at Southern Elementary School and was a learning support teacher at Southern Elementary and Susquehannock High Schools. Karen was a 12th grade advisor, York County Teacher Induction Program Mentor, and after school basic skills program.
Jack Stoneberg: Jack is retiring after 35 years of service. He was the technology education teacher at Southern Middle and Susquehannock High Schools. He also served as varsity wrestling coach, junior high wrestling coach, varsity football coach, junior high football coach, varsity baseball assistant coach, and junior high assistant track and field coach.
Perry Sweitzer: After three years, Perry will be retiring. He worked as a custodian for the District at Southern Elementary, Shrewsbury Elementary, and Susquehannock High Schools.
The Southern York County School District would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the retirees for their years of service and hard work. They have all made a difference in the lives of our students and will be greatly missed.
