The Warrior Baseball Team Volunteers with the Veterans Helping Hands Program in York
On November 11th, Veterans’ Day, The Warrior Baseball Team volunteered to help with the Food Run organized by the Veterans Helping Hands Program in York.
Players worked in two shifts, one beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the other beginning at 4:30 p.m., helping out with bagged lunches and loading vehicles. “In about an hour and a half, we had 200 bagged lunches prepared”, Coach Farmer said.
“I thought that this experience was very beneficial for two reasons. It showed us how fortunate we are, and also showed us we can rely on our teammates to help us when we need it,” Joe Gusherowski, a player on the Warrior Baseball Team, said.
When Farmer took over coaching he wanted the boys to be accountable and involved in the community. Farmer reached out to a local church to get the baseball team involved in the Veterans Helping Hands Program. He thanked his players and parent volunteers for the overwhelming interest in helping the community.
