Southern York County School District Mourns the Recent Loss of School Board Director Jerri Groncki.

Southern York County School District mourns the recent loss of school board director Jerri Groncki. Mrs. Groncki used her experience as a teacher, parent and grandparent, and long-term community member to make decisions that were in the best interest of the students, staff, and community members of the Southern York County School District for more than 25 years.

In the past Groncki shared, “I was a teacher. I started down in Baltimore City years and years ago, and I’ve just found that now that I’m not teaching, it’s kind of a way to give back to the community.“ The Groncki family felt so strongly about volunteering their time for the betterment of the Southern York County Community, that in 2007, her husband Ronald Groncki became a school board member and continues to serve.

She was remembered by Board President Robert Schefter for her dedication to and passion for her service to Southern York County School District. “It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve on the Board with Jerri,” said Schefter. During her years of service, Mrs. Groncki served as the chairperson of both the Education and Buildings and Grounds committees. “Jerri made a significant contribution to community members, families, students, teachers, and the entire District staff,” said District Superintendent Dr. Lemmon. “She worked tirelessly in the best interest of the students,” she added. “The District is a better place because of Jerri’s efforts and service.  She will be greatly missed,” Lemmon said.
