Nominations for Southern York County School District Teachers

Two Southern York County School District teachers were recently recognized for excellence in education.

Nicole Clemens works at Southern Middle School in Special Education Learning Support. She was nominated for the Ann Moniot Outstanding Middle Level Educator Award. The award is presented to middle level educators who have positively influenced middle level education and students.

Nicole had the following to say about her nomination: “It means the world to me to know that the efforts I make to build connections and help students feel success have not gone unnoticed. Knowing that I have positively impacted others enough to receive this recognition is extremely validating, and it is motivation to continue learning and striving to become a better educator.”

Dempsey Murphy teaches science at Southern Middle School and was nominated for the Lincoln Investment/PAMLE Promising Practitioner Award. This award is presented to teachers who are beginning their middle school careers and have made a positive impact on their school and community.

When asked about her nomination, Dempsey said: “I truly feel blessed to be recognized. It is really a great feeling for me to be considered a promising practitioner and to be chosen as a deserving person for getting this recognition. I love being an educator and am greatly appreciative that my efforts to make a positive difference in our school have been recognized.”

Dr. Len Reppert, principal of Southern Middle School, said, “I could not be more proud of Ms. Murphy and Mrs. Clemens on their recent recognitions. They continue to go above and beyond the call of duty in meeting the needs of their students' academic and social emotional learning.”

Congratulations to Nicole and Dempsey on being recognized for making a difference in the lives of students!
